Common Diagnoses

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. With type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood.

Parkinson’s Disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. It is caused by the progressive loss of dopamine-producing brain cells, causing a decrease in motor function. Early symptoms include tremor, rigidity, slowness of movement, and difficulty with balance.

Arthritis is a group of diseases that cause pain, stiffness, inflammation and limited movement. There are over 100 types of arthritis and related conditions. The two most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Weather you suffer from arthritis, one of these diseases or both of them, it is important to learn about your form of arthritis so you can take steps to relieve the pain and improve your quality of life.
